Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

Anyone who wants to be prepared to help save a life in case of an emergency should take a CPR class. You don’t need a special certification or formal training to perform CPR, but you do need education. You can learn CPR by taking a first-aid training course, including CPR and how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED).

The Heart Saver class is approximately 4 hours which includes a variety of support skills. You will learn how to:

  • Recognize and respond to cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest, and choking emergencies.
  • Perform high-quality chest compressions and rescue breaths.
  • Use an automated external defibrillator (AED) safely and effectively.
  • Provide first aid for common injuries and illnesses.
  • Opportunity to practice your skills on realistic manikins and scenarios.

The cost of the class is $95.00 per person.   A group of 3 or more $90.00 per person

Basic Life Support (BLS) course is designed for healthcare professionals and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills. The class is approximately 4 hours. The course teaches:

• High-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants.
• The AHA Chain of Survival, specifically the BLS components.
• Important early use of an AED.
• Effective ventilation using a barrier device.
• Importance of teams in multi-rescuer resuscitation and performance as an effective team member during multi-rescuer CPR.
• Relief of foreign -body airway obstruction (choking) for adults and infants.

The cost of the class is $100.00 per person. A group of 3 -4 $95.00 per person. 5 or more $ 90.00

Upon completion of the CPR class, test, and return demonstration you will receive a card that is valid for two years. This card will come via email from Swedish American Emergency Medical Services.
